The two majorly used motorcycle brakes are the disc brake and the drum brakes. So first get to what is used in your motorcycle. Because the care steps would differ for each.

2. Disc Brakes care:

These are being used extensively in modern bikes. Now let's see how to maintain them properly.

  • Keep a check on the brake fluid and refill whenever required by unsealing a new piece of brake fluid.
  • Inspect the brake pads often as they are more susceptible to wear and tear damages and consider changing it right before it becomes worse and becomes thinner than 3mm. Ignoring the brake pads might damage the disc brake's rotor, which might lead to a change in the entire brake assembly.

3. Drum brakes care:

They are a classic type of brake system and are still in use. They are quite complicated and thus require much attention. The two things two be considered in drum brakes are the brake shoes and brake liners.

  • Access the drum brakes only after removing the rear wheel. Check for accumulation of dust and clean it.
  • Check the liners in the brake shoes and make sure they are in good condition. If not consider changing the brake shoe itself.

Following these necessary steps would undoubtedly help you maintain your bike's brake system in good condition always.
